We are seeking an Engineer (Electrical, Optical, Computer Science, or Math) to join our diverse team, who, on any given day, will be challenged to:
Research and apply concepts from the domains of electromagnetic/radio frequency (RF) interference, autonomy, machine learning, and signal processing to analyze and solve complicated problems
Use signal processing techniques to analyze data collected from sensors, cameras, and RF transmitters/communications equipment
Design, develop, analyze, and test advanced sensor, imager, or communications technologies, conduct in-lab system-to-system integration, and participate in field tests and demonstrations
Design and conduct tests and experiments on physical security system components including counter-unmanned aircraft system (CUAS) technologies
Evaluate, develop, and implement algorithms or other data processing techniques to classify data in support of many diverse applications, including countering unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones
Write and present technical papers and proposals
The selected applicant will work on a diverse set of problems associated with physical security system performance including sensing, assessment and mitigation of a variety of physical threats such as unmanned aircraft, or drones. The applicant will participate in collection and analysis of RF, radar, optical, acoustic, and shock physics data. The work will include participation in field and laboratory experiments and testing outdoors and potentially at various test sites around the country. A mathematics/statistics background will compliment some of the practical signal/image processing experience highlighted in this posting.
Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time may be needed.
Advanced degree (Masters) in Electrical Engineering or relevant STEM field
Experience in, and you have the desire to, perform laboratory and field testing, RF measurements, and signal processing
Can obtain a DOE Q clearance
Experience with RF collection and analysis equipment including signal / spectrum analyzers, receivers, transmitters, antennas, and cable signal loss measurements
Demonstrated experience in data acquisition and signal processing/analysis, especially in the RF, optical, and shock physics domains
Experience with signal processing using FPGAs
Familiarity with radar principles, operation, troubleshooting and data analysis
Experience with the design, assembly, testing, and/or implementation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and/or Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS)
Experience with deep learning or other statistical learning approaches
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to participate equally well in a follower or leadership role
