The Environmental Effects Engineering Department is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the team in Cedar Rapids, IA as an Electromagnetic Interference / Compatibility (EMI / EMC) Engineer. This position supports the Environmental Qualification of various Collins Aerospace products by providing engineering support to the qualification laboratory to ensure the success of project teams going through the EMI qualification.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Hands on troubleshooting of EMI test setups, which include reviewing released quality test procedures, cross-referencing test methods, and inspecting test equipment settings.
Research and improve EMI test setups based on new industry requirements and best practices by working with a capital procuring team, obtaining quotes, and tracking delivery time.
Develop and update EMI test methods as new equipment is purchased and new measurement techniques are used.
Maintain and develop flexible test procedure templates that are optimized for both accuracy and ease of document updates.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and up to 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required
Bachelor’s Degree (BSEE or BSECE) or in a related electrical field
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance (US Citizenship Required)
Must be capable of securing and obtaining a Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance
Knowledge of Environmental Testing Standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-HBK-704, etc.)
Experience with operating test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, and programmable power supplies
Knowledge of EMI/EMC test and troubleshooting
The ability to interface with internal customers and team members at all levels on a regular basis is essential.
Applicant should have excellent written and verbal (including presentation) skills, and should have demonstrated the ability to effectively lead and work independently or in a team environment.
