USPDS, which falls under the National Technical Nuclear Forensics (NTNF) mission leverages AFTAC to detect, identify, and characterize nuclear events and to report nuclear forensic information to national authorities. The USPDS is a fully integrated, terrestrially based, geographically dispersed, centrally managed prompt detection and reporting system. It provides the ability to collect, process, transmit, and analyze forensic data phenomena resulting from a nuclear event.
