Support needed for code 251. Must be able to work independently. This tasking is to assist Norfolk Naval Shipyard Engineering and Planning Department Code 251 Surface Ship Structural with Planning Yard duties. The mission of these branches is to furnish engineering services for U.S. Navy L-Deck Amphibious (LHA and LHD) and CVN class in accordance with refs (a) through (d). The Government’s Technical Lead will answer questions and resolve all problems concerning the following technical requirements, via the COR:
Develop engineering drawings using AUTOCAD. Drawing must be technically complete and accurate and should be ready for issue with a minimum of Government review.
Develop drawings that conform to Aircraft Carrier Integrated Design Engineering Activity (I.D.E.A) CAD Standards.
Develop drawings to conform to Intelligent Ship Installation Drawing AUTOCAD Module template 1.4 or greater requirements.
Develop drawings in accordance with General Specifications of Overhaul (GSO) requirements.
Develop drawings in accordance with Naval Ships Technical Manual (NSTM) requirements.
Develop drawings that completely and efficiently accomplish the intent of the applicable Ship Alteration Record (SAR), Ship Change Document (SCD).
Conduct engineering investigations, including ship checking and system troubleshooting, in order to obtain data for use in development of drawings, engineering reports and test procedures.
Develop drawings that include required Weight and Moment requirements.
Perform and review standard engineering calculations for strength, stress, shock, weight and other factors.
Develop drawings that adequately address shock requirements.
Develop drawings with quality such that Rector Plant Planning Yard (RPPY)/Propulsion Plant Engineering Activity (PPEA) concurs with minimum number of comments.
Develop drawings that include required safety and/or environmental considerations.
Develop drawings that accurately depict arrangement of equipment.
Interface between different technical disciplines to ensure complete integration of various systems.
Develop drawings that adequately identify system and component test requirements.
Develop drawings that include required Weight and Moment requirements
Perform and review standard engineering calculations for strength, stress, shock, weight and other factors.
Develop drawings that adequately address shock requirements.
Shall have experience and knowledge in the following:
Familiar with Auto Cad for drawing development.
Familiar with Intelligent Ship Installation Drawing (ISID) Program.
Writing interoffice correspondence (memos, letter, and reports).
Familiar with shipyard, local and NAVSEA processes and instructions.
Knowledge of material ordering from Navy Stock System using mil-spec ordering data.
Knowledge of commercial specifications American National Standard Institute (ANSI), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), Automated Integrated Survey Instrument (AISI) and Military Specifications.
Familiar with Level I per NAVSEA T/M 0948-LP-045-7010 Material Control Standard Non- nuclear.
Knowledge of cognizant components and associated equipment (i.e. Hand Rails, lifting pad eyes, Boat Davits, Mainmasts, antenna platforms, exterior foundations, encapsulated life rafts & foundations, RAS & FAS equipment and foundations, etc.).
Experience with drawing development on the following NAVSHIPYD, Norfolk, Code 251 lead code SAR/SCD:
Hull Structure.
Hull Foundations.
Weapon and Stowage Platforms.
False Floor.
Machinery Space Plating/Grating and Handrails
High School Diploma Required.
This position requires US citizenship and will be subject to a security investigation, must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain, and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
