Job Summary

Purpose and Scope:

Directs and coordinates transportation Division daily activities (to include Personnel Property Office, freight office, Transportation Motor Pool, container repair shop, Airfield Arrival and Departure office) of EAGLE Fort Campbell contract by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Must have a completely thorough and detailed knowledge of the operations and required systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Utilizes knowledge of the contract operations and automation systems to plan and coordinate division workload; assign and adjust priorities; provide technical advice and policy direction; and to perform supervisory and personnel duties.

2) Develops methods and procedures so the transportation division to support customers located at Fort Campbell and within the operating service area.

3) Directs scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned customers of arrival dates for critical items.

4) Initiates investigations into causes of customer concerns and Interactive Customer Evaluations.

5) Initiates changes designed to improve processes and efficiency of transportation division operations.

6) Assists in preparing department budget.

7) Manages two subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 54 employees in the Transportation Division. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.

Also directly supervises seven non-supervisory employees in the freight, TMP areas of operation. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, explosives, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Minimum Requirements

Must have at least 10 years of documented supervisory experience in a transportation related field. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations, policies, procedures and instructions in DoD air and groundtransportation.

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a comprehensive knowledge of governing regulations, policies, procedures and instructions in the areas of personal property, unit movement, materiel movement, and transportation motor pool operations.

Must have the ability to provide information and reports, resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services to the customers.

Must have skills in verbal and written communications to conduct meetings, evaluate plans, and prepare reports, plans, and working instructions.

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Requires a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of the entire physical distribution cycle and automation systems.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.

Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.

Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

SECRET security clearance required.
