Engineering Lab Technician will provide engineering support under the Advanced Technology Lab Resources team supporting all Collins Aerospace engineering and production groups.Looking for innovators, creative thinkers, and problem solvers. In the Collins Aerospace Advanced Technology Labs, we take innovative ideas and bring them to life.Our team is looking for motivated, confident, and passionate technicians to help develop the next generation of communication and aviation electronic solutions.
The Mechanical Technician and additive manufacturing team is looking for a self-motivated and hard working person who can work from a design, create and build from a paper sketch or make parts from a designed to final product.
Ideal candidate can listen, interpret ideas and help bring them to life using their creativity, ingenuity, design and CAD programming skills along with using mechanical power and hand tools.
Understanding how to listen and work with peers, engineers and management are keys to success. Projects will vary from basic and complex parts made out of aluminum, plastic and composites for design, fixing, modifying parts and products.
Additional skills used on the job might be working with a: lathe, shear, break, 3D printer, CNC machines, etc.
In addition to design and building skills, interpersonal traits are very important as the individual will be; working alone, part of a mechanical team, interact with internal and external customers and take the lead on complex projects while working effectively in a team environment.
Candidate should have experience working with Microsoft office Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Proficient with design software (Inventor, AutoCAD)
Proficient with programming software (ex. SurfCAM, MasterCAM, GibbsCAM)
Proficient in working with machine shop equipment (CNC machines, lathes, mills, welding, molding systems)
Knowledge/experience with Additive manufacturing
Knowledge/experience with R&D departments
Knowledge/experience with interpreting engineering drawings
Knowledge/experience with designing and constructing test hardware
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to routinely lift at least 50lbs
This position requires either:
•An AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a HS diploma, GED or AA/AS degree, 8 years of relevant experience is required OR
•A Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 2 years of relevant experience.
