Network Engineer – Inside IR35
Contract Term: 12 Months (Extension Possible)
Contracting Authority: National Crime Agency (NCA)
Location: Hybrid - Leicester
As a Network Engineer your main responsibilities will be:

•    Installation, upgrading and support of technical hardware, operating systems, software and peripherals. 
•    Provide support of the incident, problem, configuration and change processes which affects the infrastructure. 
•    Demonstrate applications to the user(s) initiating roll - out following approval. 
•    Train user(s) on the usage of applications and technical systems as required. 
•    Conduct application support - (Bug Fixing) to include investigation and analysis of application issues, replicate issues on test systems and investigate database and/or code to identify faults and produce/ test proposed solutions. 
•    Maintenance (Upgrades): Maintain currency with technological advancements and user requirements update, repair, modify and expand existing applications as per user requests. 
•    Prepare and draft documentation to include User requirements, Application Design, SRDs, RFCs and User manuals. 
•    Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues on software tools and applications. 
•    Support of any other technical infrastructure as directed.
•    Configuring, and troubleshooting computer networks, including LANs, WANs, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs and Security Devices.

Essential Skills
•    Active SC Clearance.
•    LVL2/3 Technical Support Engineering, or time served apprenticeship or equivalent relevant experience. 
•    Knowledge of software, hardware, and networking principles, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
•    Operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and familiarity with software applications commonly used by customers.
•    Understanding of networking protocols, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. 
•    Ability to investigate and troubleshoot complex IT problems, both hardware and software-related.
•    Ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively - Able to collaborate within teams, manage customer expectations, and explain technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
•    Experience in configuring firewalls, Cisco, Fortigate. 
•    Network Stack/switches configuration, routing and security, Cisco, Dell and HP.
•    VPN and 2 factor Authentication.

Knowledge
•    Excellent understanding of Private and Public Cloud infrastructure.
•    Cisco Switch and Firewall configuration.
•    VPN and Secure Tunnels.
•    Network Security.
•    Cybersecurity principles and best practices, including network security, access control, encryption, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
•    Familiarity with security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS/IPS), and antivirus software.
Desirable Skills
•    CCNA
