The role
As a Production Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll support Maintenance Repair and Overhaul activities, Inventory Management, Technical and Through Life Support. Further to this the Effectors Gunnery area within the Mission Systems Business is in a state of growth, including future Type 26 and Type 31 vessels. As part of the operational management team on site, you'll be there to enable the production team to deliver the required outputs efficiently and safely, to both fiscal contract and end-user requirements.

Day to day, you'll:
  • Control and update engineering support performance information with the Planning section to ensure Production led activities are undertaken to meet both customer contractual and internal milestone requirements.
  • Reporting progress against schedules to the Production Leadership team to ensure delivery to plan.
  • Provide support to the Senior Production Engineer to produce cost estimates for labour, materials, sub-contracts, and services (using support departments as necessary)
  • Creation and maintenance of valid part numbers in the Item / Price catalogue system.
  • Liaising with Technical Team on Technical Queries with respect to Supply Chain queries, Equipment concessions, Technical Data Pack queries etc
  • Creation and management of Production job plans, monitoring and vetting to ensure they comply with contractual, regulatory and project requirements.
  • Utilising and inputting to standard and ad-hoc reports based on PEP/IFS data to effectively enable the Production Team
  • Interfacing with DA/TA and production teams identifying and reporting discrepancies and maintaining accuracy status of overhaul data pack.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week, and will be based at onsite at Devonport.

Essential experience of the Production Engineer:
  • Proven Production experience
  • Good knowledge of Engineering and Production processes
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint etc.).

Qualifications for the Production Engineer:
  • Degree/ ONC/ HNS or studying towards, in an engineering discipline.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
